Kate Wallace Copywriter Website & Custom Branded Illustrations

The Website

While working on a retainer with Kate Wallace for 3 years, I had the opportunity to work on a myriad of incredible projects—from assisting her with her newsletter, developing writing challenges for her audience, creating social media graphics and managing her content marketing—one of my favourite projects to work on was her website.

Kate wanted to show her personality online to the fullest, with a combination of whimsical illustrations and fun photography.

The main challenge for this website was balancing the fun illustrated elements with keyworded content to make sure that her website was memorable, and also ranked well online.

With her website already online using WordPress, we built a whole new website under her existing one and retired the old pages as the new ones were approved.

Each illustration on her website was hand drawn and created to ensure that when her audience landed on the website, they would have a visual guide to all of her services and remember her when they were looking for a copywriter down the road.

The Retainer

Kate also used her retainer to have me manager her blog on WordPress and her Newsletter. During our years of working together, we maintained a regular blog and newsletter with custom illustrations to go with them, lead magnets to build her email list and more.

During my work with her over 3 years, I got to work on:

  • A bi-weekly blog and newsletter. I edited the content for her so there was always a second set of eyes and assisted with coming up with relevant content each month to post about.

  • I kept all projects managed within Asana so she had an accountability partner keeping her on track.

  • I managed the graphics, illustrations and SEO for her blog content, as well as managed the launch of her related social media posts to promote them.

  • I designed several lead magnets for her and set up the landing pages and associated email funnels to go with them.

  • I assisted her in outlining an online course to teach people how to write for their brand. (This came to an end shortly after the major launch of ChatGPT as her focus turned toward her book.)

  • And I also helped her with rebuilding her website, adjusting her brand identity and keeping her motivated and on track and motivated.

  • Some of the best illustration projects I’ve ever worked on were for her, including her 12 days of Christmas challenge and email writing challenges.
