The project

Margaret Craig is a seasoned real estate professional with a deep understanding of the HRM market. We’ve been working together since early 2020 on a wide range of projects and her ever-evolving marketing needs have helped me test and grow my skills along the way.

The challenges faced in real estate marketing are around testing and proving your skills. While Margaret doesn’t need to worry too much about that—with over 100 reviews on Google, ALL of them 5 stars—she likes to stay ahead of the competition and display her skills while also being of the highest use to her previous, current, and future clients. (And I can say this with confidence because she actually got us into our first home at the height of the 2021 madness against 21 other bids, under our budget and over our expectations.)

Margaret also has had a number of in-house assistants over the years, meaning there was a lot of flexibility required around the hours of her other assistants and listings coming to market.

She initially came to me to get her newsletter started, but over the years I have worked on projects using every one of my skills.

The retainer

With nearly 4 years under our belt, there have been a number of projects that we’ve worked together on to make her Realtor brand a success. To name a few:

  • We rebuilt her website on Squarespace, moving away from Wix when the platform no longer served the amount of content we were putting out and the updates we needed to make in connection to her newsletter list.

  • We’ve launched her Small Business Shout Out series, regularly recruiting new businesses to share their stories in return for a spotlight on her blog and in her newsletters.

  • We’ve launched many events—from pumpkin patches, open houses, charity events and, my personal favourite, her Photos with Santa event that actually featured my Dad as Santa Clause. (You can’t say I’m not committed to making every project a success!)

  • We’ve had her newsletter and blog posts going out for nearly 4 years now, with my assistance writing content for her when things were too busy or locating guest posts to manage her busiest seasons.

  • I learned video editing initially to work on creating Reels and listing videos for her clients. It’s been one of my favourite skills to learn and now I regularly support her social media efforts.

  • I’ve created a multitude of custom greeting cards for the various occasions that she reaches out to her clients, from new home, homeiversary, holiday and more.
